Back to school and one class I was very nervous about is over! I just submitted the final Persuasion Speech for the course here
Looking back on it, I knew the course would be a big help though I’m not a fan of presenting in front of humans. After doing a bunch of speeches and learning the ways and methods of developing and delivering a speech, I feel more confident now in my abilities. One of my goals was to prepare for and deliver a Tech Talk speech at work in front of potentially 100+ people and I did that last Friday!
No one on earth is going to say I’m a great speech giver, but I definitely felt I improved a ton. For the eP (electronic portfolio) I’m glad I revamped this site. Many years back, I used to be very active in blogging and it’s good to be back here trying it again. The most challenging aspect of rebuilding the site/eP was remembering all the WordPress features I forgot about on my blog.
For future students in COMM101R, I would add that having an eP or in my case, my old website, is a great way to get started and get some recognition out there. The course in general will give you the tools, techniques, and methods you need to continuously improve and give better speeches each time you give one. I feel confident that I could do better at the next Tech Talk than I did this past week, and that one was pretty good in my humble opinion.
